Add an address

  1. While in one of the windows that has a link to Contact Management, select a record, and click the Addresses/Contacts button. The Contact Management window opens displaying the Addresses tab. These instructions use Vendor Management in the illustrations.

  2. Click the Add button, and the Add Address window opens in a popup.

  3. Select the Type from the pull-down list. See About Address Types for definitions. Note: You can select more than one type for banks, customers, vendors, and installation sites. If a primary address is already designated, you'll need to share the address to add another type.

  4. Complete the other fields as desired. Click here for use of Address 1 & 2 lines.

  5. Click Save. The record is saved, and you're returned to the Contact Management window.

  6. Repeat steps 2 - 5 to enter additional address types, or if a contact uses the same address for different address types, you can share the address.

Share an address

Some contacts may use the same address for more than one purpose. For example, some vendors may use the same address for payments and for purchase orders.

If a contact uses the same address for different address types, you can use the Share command to copy the address and specify the additional type. You'll need to use this feature for employees and ship-tos. For the records on which you can select multiple address types, you'll need to use the sharing feature to add a type  if you've already designated a primary address.  

Once addresses are shared, editing one shared address record will automatically update all addresses linked to it by sharing. All fields for shared addresses are therefore identical. If the addresses should have different phone numbers, they cannot be shared.

Share an address

  1. Check the box beside the address to be shared, and click the Share button. The Share Address window opens.

  2. Select the type for the new address record. Note: Once an address type has been used in sharing, it is no longer included in the Share Address window.

  3. Click Save. The address is copied to the new record, and both addresses are displayed with the Shared box checked.
