Chart of Accounts Window Overview

• Use the Chart of Accounts window to add, edit, and delete account codes for the selected accounting cycle.

• Every accounting cycle has a separate, distinct chart of accounts.

• You create account codes based on the account structure and element values defined by your organization.

• You can display the individual account code elements in separate columns by selecting them in the Display Settings dialog.

• You can review the complete chart of accounts and account balances in the General Ledger - Normal window for the current accounting cycle.

• Rather than copying a chart of accounts for a new accounting cycle, you'll use the Account Mapping window to map accounts between accounting cycles and then rollover the chart of accounts.

Chart of Accounts statuses

• Enabled: Accounts are enabled automatically when they're created and are available for use in transactions. They may be disabled at any time if you no longer want them to be available.

• Disabled: Disabled accounts aren't available for use in transactions, but they remain in the system for reporting purposes.

• Active: At least one transaction has been recorded against the account code.

• Inactive: The account code hasn't been used in any transactions.
