Attach a File to a Record

Certain grids — such as Vendor Invoice and Purchase Requisitions — allow you to attach files using a command on the More menu. To attach files to records in the other grids, you must first select the record for editing. This topic describes both methods.

Attach files from a grid

The pictures in these instructions use the feature in Capital Assets > Asset Management as an example.

  1. Within the window that supports attachments, select the record to which you want to upload a file, and select Attached Files from the More menu, or click the Attachment(s) link. The Attached Files window opens.

  2. Click the Add button, and the Add Attachment window opens.

  3. Click the Select Files button, browse to the location of the file, select it, and click Open. You're returned to the Add Attachment window with the name of the file displayed in the Selected File Name: field.

  4. Optional. Enter a Description that will appear in the Attached Files window.

  5. Click Save, and you're returned to the Attached Files window with the information about the file displayed.

  6. Click the Return to... link in the upper right corner.

Attach files from an Edit window

The pictures in this section use the feature in Accounts Payable > Vendor Invoice as an example.

  1. Within the window that supports attachments, check the box for the record to which you want to upload a file, and select Edit, or click the Invoice(s) link. The Edit Invoice window opens.

  2. Click on the Attached Files tab, and you'll see the list of files.

  3. Click the Add button, and the Add Attachment window opens.

  4. Click the Select Files button, browse to the location of the file, select it, and click Open. You're returned to the Add Attachment window with the name of the file displayed in the Selected File Name: field.

  5. Optional. Enter a Description that will appear in the Attached Files window.

  6. Click Save, and you're returned to the Attached Files window with the information about the file displayed.
