Automatically Add Periods to an Accounting Cycle

You can add periods only to an open accounting cycle without any defined periods.

Using the Generate Monthly Periods command results in the creation of thirteen monthly periods beginning with the cycle's begin date and continuing through the month immediately following the end date. For example, if the cycle's begin and end dates are 7/1/2016 and 6/30/2017, the first period will begin on 7/1/2016, and the thirteenth period will end on 7/31/2017.

  1. Select Accounting Cycle from the Chart of Accounts menu, and the Accounting Cycle window opens.

  2. Check the box for the accounting cycle to which you want to add a period, and select Generate Monthly Periods from the More menu. You're notified that the periods were added.

If you need to create additional periods for date rangers before or after the periods you just created, see Manually Add Periods to an Accounting Cycle.
